David Ryder: Mr

On Mandela Day I invited residents in my area to help pick up litter and clean gutters and pavements on Chase Valley Road and Twickenham Avenue. A group of approximately 12 residents arrived. We worked for 3 hours and accomplished much. As citizens of South Africa, we have two choices, to either bemoan the lack of service delivery or to take positive action ourselves for our environment and our city Pietermaritzburg. Let us continue to foster the spirit of goodwill that we experienced during the world cup. This is how we can contribute to Madiba's vision of a united country focused on co-operation and respect for each other.

"Awesome SA" is a positive web site with a PowerPoint presentation that I enjoyed.  However, please can you correct some of the English grammar on the first page.  If you have an Editor, they should read through the text and make spelling corrections before publishing the content, to ensure a high quality of the content for visitors.  Just a suggestion.  Thanks!

I think that this event has made so many people aware of our wonderful country, and those who attended the world cup will go back with great feedback on what they have experienced. Love SA!

Rene Kruger: On the letter to the foreign visitors

I love this site. There is such a lack of information out there for the public as a whole, they still think there are lions in the streets of South Africa. I hope that you are able to make a difference to people's opinions of our beautiful country and I wish you all the best.

Its great to see something on S.A. that promises a positive aspect to S.A. I am over hearing negative about the place - which I realise, is often used by ex pats to justify their financial losses brought about by leaving S.A.

you get my thumbs up if this site manages to make all South
Africans proud of their roots.

Congrats.

Dear Derryn

I have read your book Awesome SA and find only one word to describe it: BRILLIANT!!

Finally, a positive and delightfull book about every single subject imaginable. I enjoyed literally reading every single word and had a good laugh on many moments. Your work on this book is amazing, and it is bout time that SA gets given another light in opinion and view. I am not a South African, am a Belgian, but am staying here for the past 7 years and have come to love and cherish this country with my heart, body and soul.  This book embrasses the diversity of this beautiful country and gives a new twist to this country's history, culture, environment and so much more uin the most positive way possible. Finally, something different then the boring, opinionated and platonic books that are available about South Africa.

All my friends that I have given the book to read say it's fantastic. I do hope that you will get full recognition for this book by authorities and South Africans likewise.

Congratulations on this fantastic work and I hope that this book becomes the success that it so dearly deserves!!!
